About ME
I am a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with over 25 years’ experience working in a wide variety of NHS and Third Sector settings.
I qualified as a clinical psychologist in 2006, having previously obtained a 1st in Social and Political Sciences (BA) and a research-based MSc, both from the University of Cambridge.
My post qualification experience encompasses a wide variety of settings, reflecting my curiosity and desire to learn. In recent years I have worked with people with a range of physical health conditions, previously at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and now at the cancer charity Maggie’s.
Prior to this, I worked in a community brain injury service, an inpatient mental health ward, a university staff counselling service and, during Covid, set up and ran a staff support service for the Emergency Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
I am a Quaker. One of the things that drew me to Quakerism is the exhortation to “live adventurously.” In many ways, my life is an ongoing exploration of what that means. Perhaps we can explore together what it might mean for you.
The breadth of my clinical experience has allowed me to see beyond diagnostic categories like anxiety and depression, appreciating the more complex dynamics that underlie the experience of difficult symptoms. I’m interested in the deeper processes.
Integrity, authenticity and kindness are the principles guiding me in my work and in my wider life. I have engaged deeply and over many years in psychotherapy for myself as well as yoga, breathwork and mindfulness practices. I practise what I preach and I preach what I practise. I value the position of curiosity and not-knowing more than the notion of being an expert on anything. I take my work very seriously but I also bring playfulness and a sense of humour to what I do.
